My Baritone

4 01 2008

My intent is to post a little each day. But, hey, how is that going to be interesting? Well, it turns out, now that I think about it, I actually have a bit to say, even if we confine ourselves to music. You see that photo on the right of the very handsome young man. Well, that was me 25 years ago.

I still wonder today why I got stuck with the baritone horn. That decision was made on a rainy night (what?) in a band room in 1975. Here, David, try the trumpet. Here, David, try the trombone. What, something didn’t fit right? I needed a shield from future audiences? Did the one music shop owner say to his assitant, “With a funny face like that, he’d better take the funny-looking instrument.”? Well, anyway, I went with it and cheerfully endured all the awkward storage and handling and repeated, “What’s a baritone?” questions.

Do you play an instrument? Would you like to? Check out my store. It’s growing, trust me.
